So firstly I want to apologize for my absence. I had a death in the family and have been in kind of a weird place over the last month or two. But I am back now and better than before. I finally acquired the final two books of the series. So we of course will continue on with those reviews and I will have the review for secrets we keep by at least Sunday June 26th. I also went on amazon today and got a bunch of free books as well so we will be reviewing some of those as well! We pick up right after New moon and after Edward and Bella return from Italy after Edward and Bella’s experience with the volturi. Bella gets grounded. Edward comes back with her and so the rest of the Cullens return to Forks. Charlie grounds Bella from seeing Edward and she is allowed to go to school and back and Edward receives a bad attitude because Charlie remembers how he left Bella. Jacob is angry at Bella and wants nothing to do with her when she returns as she chased the guy who had left her in the middle of the woods alone. Of course we see Charlie unground her pretty early on and we see Edward immediately begin his routine of seeing Bella everyday. Edward tells Bella she is not to see Jacob as he is worried for her safety. Edward and Bella go away to Florida for a weekend as she has tickets that were about to expire. Charlie was not happy with Edward going along but eventually agrees to it. Edward meets Rene and this is where Rene brings up how serious that relationship seems. We later find out there is a reason Edward made Bella leave Forks as Jacob turns up at the school to let Edward know they need to mind the treaty and the boundaries. Edward gives Bella the bare minimum of what was going on. Bella eventually speaks with Jacob and he tells her Victoria is back. The reason he showed up at the school was because the wolves had a run in with the Cullens and Jacob wanted to remind them of the boundaries. Edward has Bella then taken “hostage” by Alice so he can go an investigate what is going on in Seattle. He also needs to hunt. Alice is meant to keep Bella away from Jacob but it doesn’t work out like that. Bella goes into work and gets told she is not needed that day so she leaves and heads to the reservation. This time Edward can’t stop her as Alice would not see the decision right off hand. She goes out and sees Jacob and he asks her some questions and she finally tells him that Edward is going to change her around graduation. Jacob tells her he wishes she would just die because that would be better. Bella had a conversation with Rosalie the night before this goes down so she now knows why Rosalie doesn’t want her to go through the change. Bella heads back to the Cullens after the conversation with Jacob and Alice is worrying about her and why she would do that when she knew Edward didn’t want her to. Edward comes home and we find out someone had been in Bella’s room. Someone we don’t know based on the smell and of course the murders in seattle are still occurring. Edward and Bella come to the conclusion they are going to need help to protect Bella so Edward gets over his “jealousy” with Jacob and tells him what is going on. They agree that she is safe with Jacob and he comes over to get the scent. He invites her to a bonfire and she agrees. This bonfire is where she learns more of the stories of the spirit wolves and how they came to be. Jacob gets Bella back to Edward at the end of the night and of course he takes her home. She starts to tell him about her night but as she gets home he makes her rest. He starts reading Wuthering Heights because he says she makes him feel human emotions and he could see some connections. Alice brings up how she wants to throw a graduation party for her and Edward and Bella. Bella would freak out if they surprised her so she told her straight out. Bella then realizes the date and how close she is to having to say goodbye to her family and Jacob. Edward realizes she is not ready to say goodbye to the most important people in her life. Bella asks Edward why he doesn’t want her to be a vampire and he tells her but she then asks him if he would still like her if she was not warm and soft, and had the same smell anymore. He laughs at her and asks if tat is really what she is worried about. Edward then asks Bella why she won’t marry him or why she is worried about it. She tells him she was never supposed to be that girl who got married right out of high school. So little bit about me I was that girl in many ways. I had a baby at 18 got pregnant again at 18 had another baby at 19 and got married less than a month after having my second baby. I didn’t think I’d be that girl either but sometimes we make decisions that lead us to different places in life. Not long after this happens Bella and Edward catch up on the news again and they go to the Cullen house in order to figure out what the best course of action is or if there is any actions they can take. Jasper thinks about the newborns from his time and he told Edward it was a possibility for that to be the cause. Jasper then tells Bella how he was turned and how he came to meet Alice. They talk about how it can’t be the volturi as things are just happening to sloppily for it to be them. They call the friends who the Laurant was staying with as back up and they say no as the wolves were the ones who killed him and their leader was more involved with him then they thought. Alice tells Bella the party must go on. Alice tells Bella that her mom canceled and will not be able to make it to the party. Bella goes home to call her mother. Edward then tells Bella he will be hunting tomorrow and that Jasper, Emmett and Alice will keep her safe while he and the others are away. Bella takes her exams and then heads to Jacob’s to sit with him while Edward is gone. Jacob tells her is tired as he has been doing double patrols to keep an eye on Bella and to make sure the guest from her room does not return. Bella tells him about her graduation party and invites him to come as well. Bella and Jacob see each other again and he kisses her and she punches him. She breaks her hand out of anger. He tells her he is going to continue fighting to be with her until her very last breath. Jacob takes her home and Charlie makes the comment of good for you kid. This comment pisses me off because if you can’t respect your child’s relationship and their thoughts on not being with this other person you are a shitty person! Bella calls Edward to come get her so she can have her hand looked at. Edward and Jacob get into it but no punches are thrown between the 2 of them! When Bella arrives at the Cullens she has learned the Jasper and Emmett made bets on how many people is going to kill when she becomes a newborn. Now we are back to Bella graduating. She states she has nothing to wear. Alice brings her a new dress to wear for graduation. Then Bella realizes something that the thief and the vampire in Seattle are one in the same. This being why Alice can’t see either of them. Bella graduates along with Edward and Alice. She then tells Edward what Alice is thinking about because Bella is the one who came up with it. After they eat Bella decides she needs to go to the Cullens to help set up for the party! In reality she just wants to know what everyone else is thinking about the situation that has come up. Bella has Charlie drop her off at the party and she sees how Alice has done it up. Edward meets Bella outside and gives her a kiss full of tension. The party gets started and Alice has another vision. Then Jacob and the others show up for the party. Bella greets them and Jacob apologizes for his actions. He offers Bella a gift: a bracelet with a wolf charm on it. Jacob catches on that Bella is hiding something from him. He then finds out what is going on and offers the wolves to help. Bella begs him not to but he refuses to listen to her pleas stating she gave him a better gift than he had given her. I would love to say I finished this series willingly but right now I am at the dnf stage with this book. 7-14-22. If it changes we will continue the review! So I am going to finish this review but not because I want to but because I owe it to younger me. This series has been filled with so much nostalgia for me because I remember watching the movies. But the part of me that loved this series sees all the wrong in a lot of these things that happen in the series. I had hopes that as I had gotten older I could read it and enjoy it but this is as far as I am going to review because I don’t feel like it is worth continuing a review!
